The Bangladesh team of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will visit Dhaka later this month to discuss several issues, including readymade garment (RMG) sector’s export projections for FY23-25 with commerce ministry officials.
The team will visit the capital from October 26 to November 9, ministry officials said on Thursday.
IMF staff will hold a meeting with Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Das on November 2 from 12:15pm to 1:15pm at the secretariat.
They are expected to discuss several issues including FY23-25 export projections for RMG and non-RMG sectors, preparedness for post-LDC (Least Developed Countries) graduation exports and market access to the European Union and the United States, export diversification– reliance on a single sector (RMG), MFNs/FTAs, World Trade Organization’s (WTO) binding rules related to tariff and tariff rationalisation.
The team will also hold a meeting with Md Hafizur Rahman, director general of the WTO Cell of the commerce ministry, on November 6 from 9:00am to 10:30am at the secretariat.
