Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) Minister Md Tazul Islam has assured to resolve the complexity over the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) of Dhaka through discussion.
The convener of DAP review committee made the call in a meeting with the delegation of Real Estate & Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) at this Secretariat in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The minister also said he will consider all logical recommendations for the sake of the development.
At the meeting, REHAB President Alamgir Shamsul Alamin urged the minister to amend the DAP considering realistic situation of Dhaka and its future.
“There is a complexity in the Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of the DAP. The linkage industries of real estate sector, and developers will be affected if the DAP is implemented. So, it should be amended for the sake of economic progress,” Alamgir said.
He requested the minister to give Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) clear guidelines for various pending projects, and at least six months to implement new rules.
“Although there is a law to pass the design within 21 days, the developers and the concerned people have to wait for a long time,” he said, and demanded to speed it up within a certain period.
Rajuk planner and DAP Project Director Md Ashraful Islam, REHAB vice presidents Kamal Mahmud, and Engineer Mohd Sohel Rana also addressed the meeting.
On August 23, the government published a gazette notification for the DAP of 1,528 square kilometres under RAJUK. The new DAP, effective from 2016 to 2035, is valid now.
