Invest in food production

Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Thursday urged new entrepreneurs to invest in the food production sector of Bangladesh as there is huge opportunities in both domestic and global market.

“There is a sizable global market for the food processing industry in addition to our domestic market. We can take the opportunity to produce quality food,” the minister said while addressing at an inauguration ceremony of tree day-long international exhibition in Dhaka.

CEMS-Global USA, in association with CEMS Bangladesh organised 4 comprehensive international exhibitions at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Bashundhara in Dhaka.

Speaking as the chief guest, Humayun said that Bangladesh has rapidly developed in all sectors. The country is now an economic trigger among South Asian countries.

“Bangladesh is a potential country. We now produce international standard products. Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has set up many states where a good chance for investment has.” the minister also said.

Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman & CEO AHM Ahsan said that Bangladesh has international trade market (both export and import) worth $140 billion.

“We are connected with international market. We should increase connectivity with the global market more through such exhibitions,” he also said.

Chairman of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) Md Abdul Qayyum Sarkar noted that the BFSA is dedicated to realizing its historic goal of creating a science-based adequate food

safety management system in Bangladesh in order to support the government’s Vision 2021 and SDGs 2030.

President of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh Syed Ershad Ahmed said that there are investment opportunities for USA investors in Bangladesh. “They can invest here as Bangladesh has huge domestic market,” he also added.

This year, now that the pandemic has subsided and we are turning back. The “21st Textech Bangladesh International Expo 2022” and the “15th Dhaka Motor Show-2022” are two fantastic events we have already organised for this season,” he added further.
