The fifth summit of the Women and e-commerce Forum (WE), a popular platform of over 4.5 lakh entrepreneurs, will kick off today.
The two-day event will be held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka.
The event will see a grand gathering of women entrepreneurs from across the country.
The WE social media community has over 1.3 million members. The entrepreneurs will showcase their products at a fair as well as attend business seminars and workshops.
The summit will be inaugurated at 10am by Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque. 30 guests will take part in discussions during the two days. Eight sessions will be conducted online.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak will preside over the programme today while Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will attend it as the chief guest.
On the second day, Palak will distribute the Joyee Award among 20 successful women entrepreneurs from across the country.
There will be workshops by local and foreign guest speakers on various topics, including easy and uninterrupted internet access for entrepreneurs, adapting to the logistics ecosystem, financing for business expansion, Facebook marketing, and photography.
On the second day, a fashion show will be held showcasing various products and services made by the WE entrepreneurs, who will host a cultural event as well.
Nasima Akhter Nisha, founder and president of the Women and E-Commerce Trust, said this is going to be one of the biggest entrepreneurs’ conferences of all time.
