Record dengue patients admitted in a single day, 5 more die

Five more dengue patients died in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, raising this year’s death toll from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 94.

Meanwhile, another 855 patients were hospitalised with Dengue within this time. With the latest cases, the total number of dengue cases crossed the 25,000 mark this year.

Of the new patients, 523 were admitted to different hospitals in Dhaka and 332 outside it, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

A total of 2,847 dengue patients, including 1,957 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

This year, the directorate has recorded 25,181 dengue cases and 22,240 recoveries so far.
