PHP Automobiles Ltd, a renowned company in the country, has unveiled the latest model sedan Persona Signature from Proton at the Motor Fest in Chattogram.
This fifth edition of the three-day fest started at the GEC Convention Centre near the GEC Intersection in the port city on Thursday.
As many as 28 companies from the country’s automobile sector are participating in this event, organised by Wizard Showbiz and powered by PHP Family, and showcasing various products of the world’s renowned companies, cars and automobile sector.
On Thursday, the main attraction of the fest was the unveiling of the Persona Signature car of Malaysia’s Proton brand brought by PHP Automobiles, an organisation of the PHP family.
Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury Nowfel unveiled the car to the fest’s visitors. PHP Automobiles Managing Director Mohammed Akther Parvez, PHP Family officials, organisers, representatives of different companies and others were present.
Talking to reporters afterwards, Mohibul said PHP Automobiles is manufacturing and assembling vehicles in the country and this helps reduce the sector’s import dependency. “This initiative by PHP is a great honour for us.”
He said cars are imported through Chattogram Port now but cars will be exported through the port in the future.
Parvez said, “The PHP Family works for the country’s prosperity. Here, we have been able to showcase before everyone what we are producing with the country’s engineers and manpower.”
“Persona Signature is the latest model car we have brought to the market. It’s extremely roadworthy. The car is equipped with all modern safety features and we are offering a five-year service warranty to buyers,” he added.
The sedan has a 150cc VVT engine, leather seats, six airbags, a USB port, and smartphone connectivity. There are also electric stability control, traction control systems and LED daytime lighting systems.
Apart from this car, PHP Automobiles has Proton Saga MC, talking car sports utility vehicles Proton X-50, and 2021 model Proton X-70 SUV on display at the fest.
Among the other brands of cars, various models of Honda, Haval, PFS and Chery brands are on display at the fest. Apart from PHP, motorcycles from Yamaha and Suzuki brands are also being showcased.
The deputy education minister inaugurated the fest during a short ceremony presided over by Parvez. At the time, speakers praised PHP Family Chairman Sufi Mohammed Mizanur Rahman for setting up highly investing in factories with state-of-the-art technology for car assembly and manufacturing.
At the inauguration ceremony, Parvez said the PHP family is gradually working towards establishing a fully self-contained car manufacturing plant.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Director Manjur Alam and ACE Motors CEO Azharul Islam, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
