Tk50 lakh transacted over Biman recruitment question paper leak: DB

The Detective Branch (DB) of Police have received information that about Tk 50 lakh was transacted centring the question paper leak of recruitment tests of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The office assistant of the managing director of Biman Bangladesh Airlines was directly involved in leaking the question paper, claimed the DB.

“The question paper was leaked from the MD’s office room and we have received information that about Tk 50 lakh was transacted in this regard,” said Harun Or Rashid, additional commissioner of DB, at a press briefing at the DMP media centre in the capital on Thursday.

He revealed the information after nine people, out of 10 arrested so far in connection with the incident, confessed their involvement to the court.

“Biman MD Zahid Hossain’s office assistant Mohammad Jahid leaked the question paper from the MD’s office room. The committee assigned to conduct the recruitment tests did not perform their duties properly. The committee members cannot avoid the responsibility in this incident,” Harun said, adding, “Already some members of the recruitment exam committee have been interrogated over the phone or in person.”

This officer said that they already arrested 10 persons, including five Biman officials, for alleged involvement with the incident. Among them, nine have given confessional statements detailing all the misdeeds.

He said that the question papers were prepared in the director’s (admin) room who is also the examination committee chief. Notable, the Biman MD is presently performing as the director (admin) as an additional duty.
