BTRC opens QoS Benchmarking System

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) on Sunday launched the latest QoS Benchmarking System to scrutinize service quality of telecom operators.

The system will monitor whether the customers are getting quality service and whether the mobile operators are providing Quality of Service (QoS) within a shortest possible time.

Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the system at an event in the BTRC conference room on Sunday.

Presided over by BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder the event was attended by Post and Telecommunications Ministry Secretary Khalilur Rahman, BTRC Vice-Chairman Engineer Md Mohiuddin Ahmed.

BTRC has purchased this high-tech benchmarking equipment from the German company Rohde & Schwarz to check the quality of service outside or inside the country consistently and quickly.

In the meantime, the regulatory body has also trained the manpower in the experimental use of these devices and their operations.

The whole system has two sets of vehicle mounted and two sets of backpack quality of service devices. It has centralized data processing and monitoring system and there is Smart Analysis and Smart Monitor.

Through this system, the quality of service can be verified at four locations in the country simultaneously.

At the same time, the service quality of voice, data, OTT, network coverage etc. of the mobile phone operators can be checked.
