TCB starts selling essentials to family card holders today

Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will start providing daily essentials to family card holders at subsidised rate from Thursday.

Family card holders will be able to get the commodities from dealer shops or designated permanent spots till November 30, said a press release.

Tapan Kanti Ghosh, senior secretary of the Commerce Ministry will inaugurate the sell programme at Motijheel AGB Colony in the capital on Thursday.

Each card holders or consumers can buy maximum two liters of soybean oil at Tk 110 per liter, two kg of lentils at Tk 65 per kg and one kg sugar at Tk 55 per kg during this month.

Currently, Soybean oil is sold at Tk 178 per liter, lentil at Tk 105 per kg and sugar at Tk 115 per kg in different kitchen markets of the capital.

TCB started selling essential items to 1 crore low-income families from March that continued at different phases, reports United News of Bangladesh.

Earlier, a list of these families was prepared and special family cards were distributed for systematic sale of TCB's products.

The list was formed with the help of local government representatives, Deputy Commissioners, Upazila Nirbahi Officers and people's representatives at the union level considering the local population and poverty indicators.
