Int’l Fire, Safety & Security Expo 2022 begins Thursday

A three-day long of the 8th International Fire, Safety and Security Exhibition (IFSSE) will kick off on November 24 in Dhaka with an aim to showcasing new firefighting technology and create awareness among people of the country.

The expo is being jointly organised by the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence (BFSCD), Electronics Safety & Security Association of Bangladesh (ESSAB) and National Fire Protection Association NFPA, USA, said organisers at a press conference on Sunday. It will take place at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in Dhaka.

Planning Minister MA Mannan will inaugurate the expo as the chief guest while Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Md Jashim Uddin, Director General of BFSCD Brig Gen Md Main Uddin, and Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan are expected to attend the expo as special guests.

Around 100 local and international companies will take part in the expo this year, ESSAB director Md Monzur Alam told The Business Post (TBP). At least 30 companies will come from USA, Italy, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Span, and India, 

“We arrange such expos to showcase new and innovative firefighting technologies in our country so that we can benefit from it here. We will also hold a good number of seminars on the fire safety issue and its upcoming challenges,” Monzur added.

On the opening day of the expo, a seminar titled, “Administrative and Operational Procedure Code” will be arranged where State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed is expected to be present as chief guest.

On the second day, another seminar titled, “Upcoming challenges of fire safety in Bangladesh” will be held where Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun is expected to be present as chief guest. In addition, State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Dr Md Enamur Rahman will be present at another seminar titled, “CBRNE Hazards and Required Initiatives.”

Another seminar titled, ”ESSAB safety excellence Award-2022” will be arranged on the same day where Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi as chief guest.

On the last day, a roundtable tilted, “Fire Safety Challenges in Bangladesh” will be held where Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam as chief guest will be present.
