Dutch-Bangla Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DBCCI) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) to boost Dutch trade and investment in Bangladesh.
BIDA Executive Chairman (Senior Secretary) Lokman Hossain Miah was present at the MoU signing ceremony held at BIDA Conference Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka, said a press release.
Md Anwar Shawkat Afser, President of DBCCI and Md Matiur Rahman, Executive Member (Additional Secretary), Marketing and Communication of BIDA signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides.
Md Anwar Shawkat Afser said that a new era has been started by the MoU signing. DBCCI has now got the affiliation from the Prime Minister’s Office. Now Dutch businessmen will be more confident in investing in Bangladesh by collaborating with DBCCI.
He also mentioned that DBCCI will start issuing Certificates of Origin for exporters to Europe to get rid of any fraudulent activities.
The president of DBCCI highlighted the upcoming event ‘Bangladesh Investment Road Show in the BENELUX-2023’ which will be jointly organised by BIDA and DBCCI in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg from February 25 to March 3, 2023.
Representatives from several ministries, BIDA, PPPA, BEZA, BEPZA, Hi-Tech Park Authority, Securities and Exchange Commission, JDPC, Bangladesh Tanners Association, BFLLFEA and high-profile Bangladeshi and European Businessmen will participate in the mega event.
Salman Fazlur Rahman, Private Industry and Investment Adviser to the Prime Minister will lead the delegation in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Lokman Hossain Miah, Executive Chairman (Senior Secretary) of BIDA, assured all support for this delegation. He appreciated DBCCI’s board of directors for their initiative to attract FDI from the Benelux region as well as from Europe.
The main objectives of the road show are- attracting foreign direct investment which may be a great opportunity for the European businessmen to invest in the potential sectors in Bangladesh and promoting Bangladeshi products and services in the Benelux region.
At the event, B2B and networking seminars will be held on sectors like agriculture and agro-food processing, finance and banking, blue economy and water resources, light and heavy engineering, export, ICT, equipment/plant for car, medical, petroleum, textile, jute, leather and leather goods, etc.
