BTCL profitable again after 15 yrs

Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) has managed to make profits in the financial year 2021-22 after incurring losses over the last 15 consecutive years.

In FY2007-08, BTCL's losses were around Tk 350 crore. Its loss continued in the following years and stood at Tk 47 crore in FY2020-21. After overcoming continuous losses, the company made a profit of Tk 6.72 crore in the last financial year.

BTCL put forward the information to Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar after the annual general meeting held at the Telecommunications Building in Dhaka on November 24.

BTCL Board Chairman and Post and Telecommunications Division Secretary Md Khalilur Rahman, BTCL Managing Director Dr Md Rafiqul Matin, and other board members were present at the meeting.
