Dhaka University Tourist Society (DUTS) and adventure platform Bengal Trekkers on Monday jointly organised a seminar on mountaineering titled 'Pahar Kathan: Trekking and Kang Yatse II Mountain Stories'.
With the theme "Trekking for all", the seminar took place at Munir Chowdhury Auditorium of TSC on Dhaka University campus in the capital, said a press release.
Bengal Trekkers founder and CEO Mohammad Arafat Hossain, co-founder Ashik Mahmud Sagar, and mountaineer and trek leader Asaduzzaman Sajjad spoke at the event among others.
Arafat said, “The main goal of this event is to encourage people to travel and trek mountains as well as promote e-tourism in the country. We want to provide clear instructions and necessary information in the field of mountain travel as well as give ideas about pre-preparation and training.”
Sagar said, “There is no place or platform to openly talk about basic and beginner trekking. As a result, many people do not know how to take proper preparations for trekking.
“We have taken this initiative to fill that gap. We also have plans to arrange training on trekking in the future.” At the seminar, Bengal Trekkers team shared their experience of trekking 6,250 metre high Kang Yatse II Mountain and discussed the necessary planning and preparations required for trekking mountains that are more than 6,000 metres high.
Dhaka University Tourist Society Vice President Ali Rawnak Islam, Organising Secretary Nahin Ashraful, and Executive Member Saeed Hasan were present on the occasion.
