NBR for displaying proof of return on business premises

Tax authorities have asked businesses and professional taxpayers to display their proof of return submission of income tax in visible places such as business premises.

Taxes Zone – Sylhet, under the National Board of Revenue (NBR), recently called on taxpayers in this regard.

The zone office said, according to the Income Tax Ordinance, the deputy tax commissioner can fine businesses and professionals from Tk 5,000 to Tk 20,000, if they do not display the proof of return submission at conspicuous places.

It said the proof could be an acknowledgement receipt of the return prescribed by the NBR, or a system-generated certificate containing the name and taxpayer's identification number (TIN) of the person.
