A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Md Monzur Alam Sikder, chairman of e-commerce platform Alesha Mart, in a cheque dishonour case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order as the defendant did not appear before it.
The court also fixed March 27 for submitting a report on the execution of the arrest warrant in the case.
According to the case, complainant Tofazzal Hossain was given a cheque by Alesha Mart, as the company failed to supply him with a motorbike he ordered with full payment online.
When the plaintiff tried to cash the cheque, it was dishonoured. He later requested the defendant to pay the money in cash through a legal notice.
As the accused failed to pay the money, Tofazzal Hossain filed a case with the court on August 22 last year accusing the Alesha Mart chairman.
Accepting the case, the court also issued a summon asking Monzur Alam Sikder to appear before the court in the case
