The SME Foundation in collaboration with The Asia Foundation has launched an online one-stop business advisory service centre “onnessha” for women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh.
While inaugurating the service centre on Tuesday, the speakers said that a woman entrepreneur can log on to www.onnessha.com and get information about any advice and services in the field of business management.
SME Foundation Chairman Md Masudur Rahman was present as chief guest while Kazi Faisal Bin Seraj, country representative of The Asia Foundation, was the special guest.
The launching ceremony was presided over by SME Foundation Managing Director Md Mofizur Rahman while Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Professor at the Department of Development Studies of the University of Dhaka, was present as the keynote speaker.
Earlier on October 12 last year, aiming to develop women entrepreneurship in Dhaka, Chittagong and Sylhet regions, SME Foundation signed an agreement with The Asia Foundation for the joint implementation of the scheme titled “Expanding Economic Opportunities for Women Entrepreneurs in Bangladesh: One-Stop Business Advisory Services Platform.”
The creation of an online one-stop business advisory services platform especially for the support of women entrepreneurs had been undertaken under the agreement.
Besides, organising seminars at national and regional levels, preparation of training outline and organizing of training, and creating a directory containing the information of women entrepreneurs of Sylhet and Chittagong divisions will also be implemented.
These two institutions will also be jointly working on identifying ongoing credit schemes for women entrepreneurs, providing information support to women entrepreneurs and in a bid to provide services to women entrepreneurs.
