Container depot in Ctg fined Tk2 lakh

The Chattogram district administration has fined Vertex Off-Dock Logistic Services Ltd Tk 2.10 lakh due to a complete lack of a fire suppression system and fire safety plan, and for running a petrol pump without licence on the company premises.

A mobile court conducted by officials of the district administration, Department of Explosives, and fire service raided the container depot on Monday.

Executive Magistrate Pratik Dutta, who led the drive, told The Business Post, “This company has been running a petrol pump without licence. The depot did not have any fire suppression system, fire safety plan and fire hydrants either.

“The depot authorities have been running their operations for 22 years, but took no steps to formulate or implement a fire safety plan. We fined the depot’s senior manager Sheikh Md Moazzem Hossain Tk 2.10 lakh for the violations.”
