Debate helps to build rational society: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dipu Moni said debate develops logical thinking and plays an important role in creating rational people and society.

She said debate teaches people to think, inspires the best thought, and creates the ability to consider a subject from multiple perspectives. It also helps build proficiency in using standard language.

Dipu Moni came up with the remarks while addressing the 15th debate festival of the National Debate Federation Bangladesh (NDFBD) held on Friday at the capital’s Shishu Academy.

The education minister said the truth is established on the basis of logic through the debate. Thus debate is playing an essential role in establishing a rational and enlightened society.

She said efforts are being made to develop debate clubs at the school level to spread the practice of debate across the country which help to build a generation that respects dissent.

At the event, Dipu Moni was awarded the NDF Lifetime Award for her outstanding contribution in debating.
