The Department of Environment (DoE) conducted a campaign and mobile court in Gulshan-1 area in Dhaka to control noise pollution on Sunday.
Mohammad Mamun Mia, director of DoE (Dhaka city), Mohammad Masudur Rahman Patwari, director (admin and enforcement) and Maher Nigar, an executive magistrate of the DoE, led the campaign, reads a press statement.
The department conducted the campaign in collaboration with Gulshan Society under the project ‘Coordinated Partnership Programme to Stop Sound Pollution’, it added.
The mobile court fined six vehicles a total of Tk 3,200 for using banned hydraulic horns and warned many others.
“Many vehicles have been fined under the Noise Pollution Rules-2006 for making excessive noise,” Mohammad Mamun said, adding that thecampaign will go on.
From Gulshan Society, its former president ATM Shamsul Huda, who is also the former chief election commissioner, Vice President Eva Rahman were present on the occasion among others.
