Department of Fisheries and Dutch-Bangladeshi consortium have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work together for the capacity building of farmers towards the sustainable development in the fisheries sector.
Under this agreement, 75 field level fisheries officials will be trained on the use of developed and modern technologies.
Dutch-Bangladeshi consortium will work with Department of Fisheries to prepare a training manual to train 16, 000 farmers and hatchery owners in shrimp farming.
Department of Fisheries Director General Khondokar Mahbubul Haque and Larive International (a partner of the consortium) director Matthias Brienen signed the MoU at the Fisheries department’s auditorium on behalf of their respective organisations. Khondokar Mahbubul Haque said, “This partnership will enhance the technological advancement of the fisheries officials apart from the farmers. If the farmers enriched by the skills will play a role in sustainable development in the fisheries sector.
Matthias Brienen said, “Dutch skills and technologies can help hatcheries and other fish farmers. We are interested to work with the department of fisheries in future.”
