Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Thursday said that a section of people is opposing the new curriculum out of fear to lose coaching and note-guide business in the country.
She said, “Some people think that their coaching business will suffer, the coaching business will not work while some think their note-guide business won’t work. That is why they are opposing the new curriculum. But we are also keeping an eye on them.”
She came up with the remarks while addressing as chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Girls’ College in Dhaka.
“Our students will learn to understand and apply and become skilled people through the new curriculum. As we put more emphasis on science and technology, it is also important to be creative human beings. The most important thing is that our students learn to think, to learn to solve problems.”
“This is learning to think and a section of people fear it. If the people of the country learn to think, then they can no longer be brainwashed. This is why they are opposing the new curriculum. But our new curriculum will continue facing challenges,” she said.
“I want to make very clear that Awami League has never done anything anti-Islamic or conflicting with Islam since its birth, and will never do anything against Islam. So, all the false propaganda about the new curriculum will not work,” said the minister.
The college governing body chairman Riaz Uddin presided over the ceremony while Dhaka-6 lawmaker Kazi Firoz Rashid, Dhaka education board chairman Tapon Kumar Sarker, and acting principal Tofayel Ahmed Bhuyian were also present at the event.
