Surveillance team to monitor 3 bus terminals for 6 days of Eid-ul-Fitr

The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection said that action will be taken if passengers are charged extra fare during Eid being hostage to bus owners. BRTA’s surveillance team will monitor the overall situation at the three bus terminals of the capital for six days before and after Eid.

A view exchange meeting was held with the participation of transport owners and labor union leaders in the meeting room of the Directorate’s head office on Monday.

The meeting was presided over by Director General (Additional Secretary) National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate A.H.M. Safikuzzaman.

Manzoor Mohammad Shahriar, director of the department in his welcome speech requested transport related employees who spend Eid on the road to take care of their facilities. He said, if we complement each other and work, we hope that this Eid journey will be comfortable.

Selling tickets at a higher price than the fixed price in the meeting, reserving tickets in the hope of higher profit, not reserving the price list of the vehicle, dropping the passenger from the vehicle mid-way before reaching the specified destination, behaving rudely with passengers, carrying extra passengers like local buses without assigned seats, driving by unskilled drivers etc. topic were discussed in the meeting,

The representative of BRTA said that from 3 days before Eid to 3 days after Eid, there will be surveillance teams at 3 terminals in the country to provide immediate solutions to transport related problems.

The managing director of Sohag Paribahan, along with representatives of other transport owners’ associations and workers’ associations, blamed the absence of passengers even though the car was full of passengers when they went to collect more car fares on Eid.

At the end of the discussion, the Director General expressed the hope that if all concerned departments, transport owners association and transport workers association work together, the journey of domestic passengers will be smooth and their journey will be easy during Eid.
