TikTok removes 420k videos from Bangladesh in Q4 2022

TikTok has released its latest Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for Q4 of 2022, as a show of commitment to halt the spread of misinformation. The report reflects the platform’s ongoing commitment towards building customer trust by showing accountability while providing a safe community.

In the mentioned time period, more than 8.56 crore videos were removed globally, which represents about 0.6 per cent of the total videos uploaded to the platform. Its automated filtering process removed around 4.68 crore videos, out of which some 5.4 crore videos were restored.

Bangladesh saw the removal of 4.2 crore videos which were in violation of the community guidelines. Additionally, it removed user accounts for violating said guidelines while also removing accounts which were suspected to be spam. The video-sharing platform also took proactive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts through automated measures.

In Q4, 95 per cent of the videos in question from Bangladesh were removed before any views. The proactive removal rate was 99.5 per cent. TikTok removed more than 1.78 crore accounts globally in Q4 due to suspicion regarding the users being under the age of 13.
