The University of Information Technology and Sciences (UITS) on Thursday organised a fresher reception ceremony for the spring semester-2023 at its permanent campus in the capital’s Baridhara.
UITS Vice-Chancellor (Acting) Professor Dr Md Abu Hashan Bhuiyan presided over the ceremony while the founder of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro and renowned litterateur Prof Abdullah Abu Sayeed was present as the chief guest at the programme.
UITS and PHP Family founding chairman Alhaj Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman, who was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2020 for his vast contribution to social activism, was present as the key discussant at the event.
UITS Board of Trustees member and PHP Family director Mohamed Ali Hossain, the university treasurer Prof Dr Siraj Uddin Ahmed, and noted academician and BUET’s retired professor Dr M Kaykobad were present as special guests.
UITS Board of Trustees Advisor Professor Dr KM Saiful Islam Khan, its law faculty dean Dr Md Abdul Mannan Bhuyean, AKM Rahmatullah College Principal Md Habibur Rahman Bhuyain, and Gulshan Commerce College Principal MA Kalam also spoke among others.
The university received its new students of the spring session warm-heartedly through the colourful programme. A cultural event was also held with the participation of the university students.
