Govt postpones today’s SSC exams

The government postponed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations scheduled for today (Monday) under all educational boards due to Cyclone Mocha.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee in a notification signed by its chief Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar on Sunday said the SSC examinations under all education boards were postponed due to the cyclone.

The notification said the examinations slated for Sunday under Chattogram, Cumilla, Barishal, Jashore, madrasah and technical education have been suspended, but as the question papers of optional subjects under all boards are identical, the government further decided to suspend Monday’s exams too.

Tapan Kumar Sarkar said, “We have decided to postpone SSC exams of all educational boards as the students will need to take exams of optional subjects and the exams of all education boards take place on uniform question paper on Monday.”

He also said the time of postponed exams will be informed later while the SSC and equivalent exams will be held as usual as per the announced schedule from May 16.

Earlier, on Saturday, the authorities postponed the SSC and equivalent exams slated for Sunday (May 14) and Monday (May 15) under six education boards due to Cyclone Mocha.

On May 15, general education board students were supposed to sit for exams on home economics, agriculture studies, Arabic, Sanskrit and other subjects. But there are no exams scheduled on the day for madrasah or technical education board students.
