The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent exams of May 14 and 15 that were postponed due to Cyclone Mocha will likely be held on May 24 and 25.

Talking to reporters on Monday, Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee chief Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar said, “As per the schedule, the SSC and equivalent exams will finish on May 23. But we are thinking about taking the postponed exams on May 24 and 25.”

“A notice in this regard will be published in a couple days,” he added.

As per the current schedule, SSC and Dakhil (vocational) exams under the nine general education and Technical Education boards will end on May 23, while the written exams of Dakhil under the Madrasah Education Board will end on May 25.

At an event in Dhaka on Monday, Education Minister Dipu Moni also said that the SSC and equivalent exams postponed will be held after the completion of the ongoing written exams.

The exams started on April 30. This year, 20.75 lakh students under 11 education boards registered in this year’s SSC and equivalent exams. However, over 30,000 candidates did not appear in the exams.
