Elon Musk has recently produced a slew of tweets joking about buying popular companies and making changes. On Thursday, he tweeted that he would buy Coca-Cola and "put the cocaine back in".
In a reply to the tweet, Musk also attached a photo of the first publicly sold bottle of Coca-Cola in 1894 which allegedly contained 3.5 grams of cocaine.
Coca-Cola did, in fact, once contain cocaine, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, USA Today reports.
The cocaine in the drink was more specifically ecgonine, a precursor to cocaine. It was derived from the extract from the coca plant. There was just 1/400 of a grain of cocaine per ounce of syrup by 1902.
According to Britannica, cocaine was removed from Coca-Cola’s formula in about 1903.
Elon Musk’s tweet garnered massive attention from netizens. Some retweeted the original tweet, adding their own quips about what they thought about Musk's remarks.
Fintwit, an account that gives market updates, added, "Elon, you are too poor to buy Coca-Cola."
Several other Twitter users placed suggestions about companies Musk should buy and make changes to. Some even jokingly suggested countries that he could buy.
