Sameen Rahman, a student of marketing at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has set the Guinness World Record (GWR) for being the Fastest to tie a Windsor knot.

He tied the knot in 10.92 seconds, beating the previous record of 12.89 seconds.

Sameen, who is a 5th semester undergraduate student at IUB, applied online with the claim in August 2022. In November 2022, GWR authorities asked for evidence behind his claim, in response to which Sameen uploaded a video of him tying the knot in 10.92 seconds on the GWR website. In February, GRW gave him confirmation via email and Sameen received the official certificate one month later.

“I learned tying different kinds of knots in school. I was always good with knots and loved trying different kinds. But I never thought I was going to set a world record. It feels good to know that if you are good at something and if you work hard for it, you may actually become the best in the world,” said Sameen, who did his O and A Levels from Adroit International School and College in Lalmatia.

Currently, he is the local committee chair of Dhaka West of Junior Chamber International (JCI). He also owns two startups: Grow More, an online skills-sharing platform which gives training on graphic design, web development, etc; and UPGRADE, an IT firm that specializes in web development, augmented reality, etc Sameen is also the IUB campus ambassador for bdapps, which is the National Appstore of Bangladesh powered by Robi Axiata Ltd & the government’s ICT Division.

The Windsor knot is a very popular way of tying neckties.
