At least 50 BNP activists were reportedly injured in a clash with police during a protest rally at Syedgaon intersection in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday.
The BNP activists were peacefully protesting the price hike of essentials, including fuel, when police attacked and tried to disperse them by lobbing tear gas shells, said Jalal Uddin, convener of the BNP Pakundia upazila unit.
“At least 50 activists of our party were injured during the attack,” he said.
Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police (Sadar circle) Md Al Amin said the BNP did not take any permission to hold a rally or stage demonstrations on road.
The members of the police were forced to obstruct them and fire tear gas shells to disperse them when they were heading towards the Pouro Bazar area, said the SP.
