An activist was shot dead when two rival groups of the ruling Awami League clashed in Chattogram city on Tuesday night ahead of the city corporation polls.
The deceased has been reportedly named as Asgar Ali. Another person named Mahbub has also sustained bullet injury in the clash and been admitted to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The clash took place between the activists of two councilor candidates in Magpukurpar area of Pathantuli in the port city.
Sadeep Kumar Das, officer-in-charge of Double Mooring thana confirmed the news to The Business Post.
