BNP leaders here asked the party men to be vigilant during Durga Puja to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Hindu community.
They said the defeated regime ousted in the July-August anti-discrimination movement is trying to undermine the new government in Bangladesh by carrying out plots and spreading rumours.
The BNP leaders made the remarks while exchanging views with the leaders of Khulna district unit Puja Udjapon Parishad at a hotel on Monday night, reports BSS.
They said as per the directive of BNP's Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the party leaders and activists will guard the puja mandaps in different areas.
BNP's Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal addressed the meeting as the chief guest while its Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul and Assistant Secretary of National Executive Committee Babu Joyonta Kumar Kundu addressed as the main speaker and special speaker respectively.
City Unit BNP organized the meeting with its Convener S M Shafiqul Alam Mona in the chair as Member Secretary Md Shafiqul Alam Tuhin conducted it.
Among others, the president and general secretary of the District Unit Puja Udjapon Committee Krishna Pada Das and Biman Saha also spoke.
