BNP postpones today’s Aminbazar rally

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has postponed its Momday's rally scheduled to be held in Dhaka's Aminbazar as the party did not get permission from the authorities concerned to hold the rally.

"We have suspended today's rally at Amin Bazar as the administration did not allow us," Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP Chairperson's media wing, told the media.

The rally was part of BNP’s ongoing one point-movement demanding resignation of the government.

Quoting Dhaka district BNP general secretary Nipun Roy Chowdhury, Shairul alleged that Awami terrorists smashed the stage set up at the venue on Sunday midnight.

BNP senior leader and chief guest of the rally Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury talked to the BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy over the issue, he said.

The fresh date of the rally will be announced after the meeting at the central office at Naya Paltan at 3 pm today, he added.

Meanwhile, Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP will hold a rally at Old Dhaka’s Dholaikhal area at 3 pm.

BNP’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will address it as the chief guest.

Earlier on September 18, BNP announced a 15-day programme till October 3, including road marches, as part of their ongoing one point-movement demanding resignation of the government.

The programme was extended by two days till October 5 on Thursday.
