Activists and leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra Adhikar Parishad have brought out a candlelit procession in the capital, including the Dhaka University campus, protesting the attack allegedly carried out by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on students all over the country.

They started their procession at 6pm from their head office at Paltan which entered the Dhaka University campus through Shahbagh intersection and was wrapped up in front of Bangladesh National Museum around 7:45pm.

The procession was joined by at least 200 activists and leaders of different units including the central unit and DU unit of Bangladesh Chhatra Adhikar Parishad.

Nurul Hoque Nur, member secretary of Gono Odhikar Parishad, also joined the procession at the last moment.

He said, "Chhatra League has been creating anarchy in the universities and medical colleges around the country. Even they tagged a Hindu student as Shibir and threatened to kill him at Rajshahi University.

“At Chittagong Medical College, they overnight tortured two students tagging them as Shibir activists and they threatened to kill those victims while they were admitted in ICU. In Islamic University, they tortured female students in a barbaric way and today they carried out an attack on the sixth founding anniversary of BCAP at TSC."

Protesting the attack, he said, "Chhatra League will have to pay for what they are doing now. Nothing will go unpaid."

Later, he called on the United Nations to impose sanctions on Bangladesh Chhatra League, saying, "BCL has been involved in many antihuman activists that include torture, abdication and extrajudicial killing."
