The BNP will hold its rally at Golapbagh ground in Dhaka at 11am on Saturday.

Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, BNP Standing Committee member, told this at a press conference held at the party chairperson's Gulshan office on Friday afternoon.

He, however, urged all including the Dhaka dwellers to take part in the rally.

BNP leaders and activists have already started gathering at the rally venue.

Earlier in the day, the party got permission from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) to hold its much-talked-about rally at Golapbagh ground.

BNP Vice-Chairman Dr AZM Zahid Hossain and Law Affairs Secretary Kayser Kamal confirmed the matter to the media after holding a meeting with DMP Detective Branch chief Harun-or-Rashid.

They said the police will assist them with all kinds of security.

A two-member BNP delegation consisting of Zahid Hossain and Kayser Kamal went to the DB office on Minto Road to hold talks for ending the impasse over the party's December 10 rally in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas have been shown arrested in a case filed with Paltan police station over Wednesday’s clash between police and leaders and activists of the BNP.

The DB chief, earlier in the day, said the leaders who were picked up from their houses in the early hours were being questioned and not arrested.
