A Dhaka court has fixed Monday for holding the hearing on bail petitions submitted by four top BNP leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Mirza Abbas, in a case filed over the clash between the party activists and law enforcers at Naya Paltan in the capital.
Two other BNP leaders are — Publicity Affairs Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Dhaka south city unit Convener Abdus Salam.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Rezaul Karim passed the order as the defence lawyers pleaded for their bail, lawyer Syed Joynul Abedin Mesbah confirmed.

On Friday, a Dhaka court sent BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas to jail rejecting their bail petitions in the case.
They were shown arrested in the case filed with Paltan police station over December 7 clash that left one dead and 50 others injured at Naya Paltan.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch (DB) chief Harun-or-Rashid said that the duo face charges of instigating, planning and directing an attack on police, crude bomb explosion and destroying public properties and lives.
Both Fakhrul and Abbas were picked up by detectives from their residences in Dhaka in the early hours of Friday.
