Jahangir’s nomination paper cancelled

The nomination paper of former Gazipur City Corporation mayor (dismissed) Jahangir Alam has been cancelled.

On April 27, twelve candidates, including Jahangir Alam and his mother, submitted their nomination papers to contest for the mayoral post in the Gazipur City Corporation election to be held on May 25.

Jahangir’s nomination paper was cancelled from the Returning Officer's office at Bongotaj Auditorium in Rathkhola area of Gazipur on Sunday.

The returning officer said Jahangir is a loan defaulter, so his nomination paper was cancelled. However, his mother’s nomination paper is valid.
