Hardline Islamist group Hefazat-e-Islam's current committee has been dissolved.
Hefazat chief Junaid Babunagari revealed the development in a video message on Sunday night.
Later in a press release, Hefazat said the committee was dissolved in the current circumstance and a convening committee would be formed to run the activities of the organisation.
Law enforcing agencies recently arrested dozens of Hefazat leaders and supporters following the violence in protest over a visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in late March.
Hefazat said at least 17 supporters of the group were killed during the protest. Authorities later confirmed the figure.
