Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday said they want a trial of killers of worthy sons of the soil under the same law and tribunal that they (killers) used to kill them illegally.

"We don't want to take revenge for what repression they carried out on our party, but we want justice for the killings and punishment of the kingpins," he told the party's district unit Rukon Conference at Hefzul Ulum Alia Madrasha ground in Sadar upazila here as the chief guest, reports BSS.

"If we get justice, our aspirations will be fulfilled, he added.

The Jamaat Ameer said the Awami League assumed the state power three times in a row, but people could not exercise their voting rights in any of the elections.

"Awami League became lord of the country instead of serving the people," he said, adding, "We don't want to see any lord in the form of human in the country. Allah is the lord of the country and who will come to power will serve the countrymen."

About the future of Bangladesh, he said, "We want such a Bangladesh where there will be no discrimination and the country will be humanitarian and free from injustice and unemployment. Here a child would be born with four fundamental rights - living, treatment, education and employment."

Castigating the ousted Awami League government, he said that they banned Jamaat-e-Islami on 1st August and only after four days Allah banned them on 5th August.

District unit Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Abu Zar Gifari presided over the conference while district unit secretary Professor Abu Bakr conducted the conference.

Jamaat's Central Executive Council Member and Ameer of Dhaka City (South) Nurul Islam Bulbul, Central Executive Committee Member Principal Shahabuddin, Central Committee Members Md. Rafiqul Islam, Md. Nazrul Islam and Dr Md. Keramat Ali, former lawmaker Professor Latifur Rahman, former Upazila Chairman Professor Mokhleshur Rahman, Municipality Ameer Hafej Maulana Golam Rabbani and Sadar Upazila Ameer Hafej Abdul Alim, among others, spoke at the conference.
