The Jatiya Party, the opposition party in the Jatiya Sangsad, has finalized its candidate for the post of mayor in the upcoming five-city corporation elections.
The candidates were finalised in a meeting at the party chairman’s office in Dhaka’s Banani on Monday afternoon.
However, except for Gazipur, the names of candidates for the remaining four cities have not been officially announced.
Former Health Secretary MM Niazuddin will fight in Gazipur City Corporation elections. Nominations have been finalized in the remaining four cities - Sylhet, Barisal, Khulna, and Rajshahi, said the party’s Chairman GM Quader.
"Our candidate has been finalized. We will announce the names of other candidates soon,” he added.
