Jayeda wins Gazipur mayoral race

Jayeda Khaton, the mother of the expelled ruling party leader Zahangir Alam, has unofficially been announced the winner in Gazipur mayoral race.

After daylong voting on Thursday, Jayeda (table clock) secured 2,38,934 votes in all (480) centres, according to the results at 1:15am on Friday.

Her nearest rival, the Awami League’s Azmat Ullah Khan (boat), got 2,22,737 votes.

Returning officer Md Faridul Islam said during a briefing this evening.
