Legal notice served on mobile operators to ensure high speed internet

A legal notice has been served on the authorities concerned to ensure quality network and for remedying the problems regarding the speed of internet and poor network coverage over mobile phones.

Advocate Ishrat Hasan, a lawyer of Bangladesh Supreme Court served the legal notice on Saturday.

Confirming the matter to the Business Post, Ishrat Hasan said, “I sent the legal notice today on behalf of three people including the President of Bangladesh Mobile Phone Users Association, a Supreme Court lawyer and a Journalist.”

The notice said that clients are tremendously suffering for slow speed of internet and poor network coverage. In addition, it is very shocking and frustrating that even after selling expensive data packages to the customers, mobile operators have failed to provide quality service till today.

The notice also said that it is very frustrating for us that our country is branding itself as “Digital Bangladesh” but it is amongst the 10 countries at the bottom in the Digital Quality of Life Index 2020.

Secretary of Post and Telecommunications Division, The Chairman, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, Chief Executive Officer of Grameen Phone Limited, Chief Executive Officer of Robi Axiata Limited, Chief Executive Officer of Banglalink Digital Communications Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Teletalk Bangladesh Limited have been made respondents to the legal notice.

The notice requested the parties concerned to take necessary steps to provide quality network services to all subscribers in our country within seven days from the date of receipt of the notice.
