Nicole Kidman was honoured with the esteemed AFI Life Achievement Award, presented by the American Film Institute, during a star-studded event at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The ceremony saw Hollywood luminaries such as Meryl Streep, Morgan Freeman, Reese Witherspoon, and Naomi Watts gathering to pay tribute to Kidman's illustrious career. Dressed in a dazzling gold sequin gown, Kidman received a standing ovation as she entered the theatre to the classic tune "Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend."

The evening commenced with a humorous video featuring Morgan Freeman spoofing Kidman’s recent ad campaign for AMC Theatres, followed by Freeman taking the stage to congratulate Kidman as a fellow recipient of the AFI Life Achievement Award, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Naomi Watts shared heartfelt memories of her longstanding friendship with Kidman, describing her as "the sister I never had." Watts reminisced about their early days as aspiring actors in Sydney and praised Kidman's generosity and support throughout their careers.

AFI president Bob Gazzale lauded Kidman's contributions to cinema, highlighting her ability to embody the "glamour and romance of Hollywood past."

Kidman's diverse range of performances, from her spirited portrayal of Satine in "Moulin Rouge" to her transformative role as Virginia Woolf in "The Hours," was celebrated throughout the event, underscoring her talent and versatility as an actress. Notably, her portrayal of Woolf earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002.
