Asif Akbar is a very popular name in the Bangladeshi music industry. His journey began in 1998 as a playback singer. He first came into the limelight with the track, “O Priya Tumi Kothay.” Asif received the Meril Prothom Alo Award for Best Singer (Male) for five consecutive years from 2001 through 2005.

This time he has ventured into the musical arena of Bollywood. Recently, he recorded a track at AR Rahman's KM Studio and Yash Raj Studio. He was very impressed with the arrangements and ambience of the studio. Asif shared his thoughts and the announcement on his official Facebook page.

He wrote, “My heart overflows with gratitude for making my mark on Bollywood, carrying the pride of Bangladesh on my shoulders. With God's grace and the love that surrounds me, my path stretches endlessly.”

The singer hasn’t yet revealed the film’s name. Apart from Asif, many Bangladeshi singers have lent their voices to Bollywood, such as Runa Laila, Andrew Kishore, James, SD Burman and more.

James is the last Bangladeshi singer who had rocked Bollywood immensely. In 2005, James did the playback for the film Gangster.' The song was "Bheegi Bheegi" and it was a blockbuster hit, remaining at the top of the Bollywood Hit List for more than a month. He teamed up with Pritam for the film Woh Lamhe in 2006 for the song "Chal Chalein", and again for "Rishtey" and "Alvida (Reprise)" in the film Life in a Metro. James' last song in Bollywood, titled "Bebasi" was released in 2013, for the film Warning.

While the film title remains undisclosed, Asif's entry marks the continuation of a legacy.
