The rail link between Dhaka and the Northern region has resumed following the recovery of the derailed carriage of Burimari Express train in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. Train movement in this route normalised on Thursday around 8:30am.
A coach of the Burimari Express derailed at Muladuli in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna around 3:30am on Thursday, snapping the rail link between Dhaka and the North region.
Shah Sufi Noor Mohammad, the Pakshi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Western Railway, said “Burimari Express, which had left Lalmonirhat for Dhaka, travelled two kilometers from Muladuli station in Ishwardi Upazila, and due to a mechanical fault, a train derailed.
“Since then, the railway connection between Dhaka and the Northern region snapped. After the recovery of the derailed carriage at around 8:30am in the morning, the rail link normalised.”
