Anwar Hossain Chowdhury – a former additional secretary (Grade-1) – has joined as the new managing director of SME Foundation.
Chowdhury earned his honours and masters degrees from the Department of Public Administration at Chittagong University, and another masters degree in Public Policy and Management from the Northern University.
Chowdhury joined the BCS administration cadre in 1993 as an 11th batch officer.
In his nearly 31-year long government career, he shouldered important responsibilities as additional secretary in the Public Administration, Ministry of Commerce and Road Transport and Highways Department, apart from serving at various levels of field administration.
From October 1, 2020 to December 27, 2023, he served as the Director General of Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center (BITAC) under the Ministry of Industry for more than three years.
As the director general of Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center (BITAC), he also served as a member of the Board of Directors of SME Foundation. He has traveled to various countries around the world to participate in training as part of government duties.
