The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted a charge sheet against former additional inspector general of police Shamsuddoha Khandkar, and his wife Ferdausi Sultana Khandkar, in a case of acquisition of wealth beyond known income.

Investigation Officer Khorshed Alam, assistant director of the ACC, submitted the charge sheet before the Dhaka Sessions Judge Court's Judge Mohammad As shams Jaglul Hossain court on Tuesday.

On January 21, 2019, the ACC filed a case against Shamsuddoha for the accumulation of Tk 8.44 crore illegally.

According to the charge sheet, the investigation officer had found evidence of illegal earnings amounting to Tk 21.5 crore against the former Additional IGP Shamsuddoha. He has also been accused of concealing wealth information worth Tk 2.87 crore.

Additionally, the ACC has found evidence of illegal assets worth Tk 27.48 crore against Ferdausi Sultana Khandkar, wife of Shamsuddoha. It is said in the charge sheet that the accused Ferdausi Sultana is a housewife, and she has no source of income.

Shamsuddoha assumed the post of Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) on October 11, 2011.

During his tenure, he was accused of massive irregularities and corruption. He was removed from the position in February 2015. Before that he had also served as additional inspector general of police.
