DIU’s educators win Excellence in Teaching Award 2024

The Tazkera & Golam Mustafa Center for Teaching & Learning (TCTL) of the Human Resource Development Institute (HRDI) at Daffodil International University (DIU) has proudly recognised the exemplary teaching practices of outstanding faculty members with the prestigious Excellence in Teaching Award 2024.

The ceremony held on June 30 at DIU celebrated the remarkable achievements of educators who have made a significant impact on student learning and development, according to a press release.

This year's award recipients from DIU were Mizanur Rahman, assistant professor at Department of Multimedia and Creative Technology, and Md Salman Sohel, lecturer at Department of Development Studies.

In addition, DIU recognised 21 other promising teachers from various departments for their exceptional teaching methodologies, innovative approaches to education, and their ability to inspire and motivate students. These educators have demonstrated outstanding dedication to delivering high-quality education and fostering a supportive learning environment.

This year, a new category of award, titled "Hasna Ara & Aftabuddin Recognition Award", was also introduced for the Best Female Undergraduate Student. The very first winner of this award was Nadiya Nusrat Koly from Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering.

Established in 2002, DIU encourages students to engage in critical thinking, debate and collaboration with professors, preparing them to meet the challenges of the modern world. Since its inception, DIU has been striving to achieve excellence in education, with teacher development being an inherent part of this journey.

TCTL, under the meticulous guidance of Professor Dr Ahmed Mustafa, provides continuous training to help educators understand pedagogical trends and innovate in their teaching methods. TCTL supports DIU faculty in their professional development to educate future generations, building a better nation and a better world with HRDI managing the development trainings.

The presence of delegates from Purdue University Fort Wayne, including Professor Mustafa, a renowned biology professor at Purdue University, Dr Ronald Friedman, the Dean of the College of Science, and Farah Amer Combs, the Honors Program Director and Senior Lecturer in Arabic, at the ceremony had enriched the session.

The joyous occasion also attended by vice chancellor, pro-vice chancellor, treasurer, members of the Board of Trustees, deans of faculties, registrar and dignitaries from prestigious universities. The guests included M Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, director of Planning and Development at University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, Akmal Hossain Azad, former secretary of Bangladesh government and consultant at HEED Bangladesh, Prof Dr Kazi Shahdat Kabir, pro-vice-chancellor of City University, and Prof Dr AM Shahabuddin, dean of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
