The tenure of incumbent Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has been extended by another year.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Friday afternoon. He was appointed on contractual basis for one and half years.

Insiders say this extension in tenure is recognition of Mamun’s unfaltering honesty, integrity and unquestionable professionalism, which he has consistently shown while serving as the chief of a force.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun was appointed IGP on September 22, 2022. He was then appointed on a contractual basis for a period of one and half years from January 12, 2023 to July 11, 2024.
