The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police has arrested 17 people – including three senior officials of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) – on charges of leaking 30 recruitment exam question papers, including that of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) exams.

Abed Ali, former driver of the BPSC chairman, is among the arrestees.

The CID launched the operation after a private television channel published an investigative report in this regard last Sunday night. They were arrested during raids in different parts of the country, including in Dhaka.

CID Special Superintendent of Police (Cyber Investigation and Operation) Touhidul Islam confirmed the matter to The Business Post on Monday, adding, “Our team has been working on the issue. A case will be filed soon. We will disclose the details at a later time.”

The operation is underway till the filing of this report, CID sources say.

The arrestees are BPSC Deputy Director Md Abu Zafar, Noman Siddiqui, BPSP chairman’s retired driver Syed Abed Ali, Khalilur Rahman, Office Assistant Sajedul Islam, Abu Solaiman Md Sohel, BPSC Deputy Director Md Jahangir Alam, and Assistant Director Alamgir Kabir.

Other arrestees are – Auditor Priyanath Roy, Md Zahidul Islam, Narayanganj Regional Passport Office security guard Shahadat Hossain, Md Mamunur Rashid, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital Medical Technician Niamun Hasan, Sakhawat Hossain, Sayem Hossain, Liton Sarkar and Syed Sohanur Rahman Siam.

During BPSC recruitment exams, the racket used to embezzle money by leaking questions. This gang recently targeted the Railway Sub-Assistant Engineer recruitment exam held last Friday.
