Day-long relief collection held in TSC

A day-long “mass relief collection event” was held for helping flood victims amid the sudden floods sweeping across the country.

The relief collection programme was held on Thursday at the Teachers and Students Center (TSC) premises of Dhaka University (DU), organised by the Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon.

A group of Dhaka University students were seen collecting dried food items and cash, and documenting their collection. Flattened and fried rice, Biscuits, Saline, Puffed rice, among other dried foods, have been gifted by different sectors.

Fahim Rahman, a resident of the city’s Chankharpul area, told the Business Post, “I came with some biscuits and saline packets. May the almighty Allah protect us from the ongoing flood.”

Hasnat Abdullah, a coordinator of the Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon, urged the people of Dhaka to participate in the mass relief collection event.

Hasnat added, “We are in an unexpected critical situation. We need everyone's cooperation to deal with the crisis. So, I am inviting the people of Dhaka to participate in the mass relief collection event.”

Hundreds of thousands of people in nine districts of the country have been marooned and out of electricity due to the flood. The flood affected districts are Feni, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Cumilla, Noakhali, Chattogram, Laxmipur and Khagrachhari.
